By Hand

Fifteen years ago, Douglas Coupland wrote, “I miss my pre-internet brain.” The line has stayed with me ever since. More and more of daily life feels programmatic, optimized, and at times artificial — including parts of creative work.

Setting time aside to work with physical materials is my way of stepping outside that pace. Drawing and collage slow the process and return me to intuition, texture, and play. There is no brief and no software — only the act of making.

Many of these small pieces are given away, sent out into the world to be held rather than viewed on a screen. This ongoing practice keeps my process grounded and often finds its way back into my design work.
